Jesse Harwood, P.Eng and owner of Harwood Engineering, grew up in Port Sydney, Ontario, Canada. He lived in Bristol, England for 4 years before returning to Huntsville, Ontario to attend high school. He graduated from a Bachelors of Applied Science - Honours in Civil Engineering degree at the University of Waterloo in 2013, also obtaining a certificate in Structural Engineering. He started his engineering experience as a co-op student, working for the City of St. Thomas, AECOM, and RWDI. He then finished his co-op and engineering intern experience working in Huntsville from 2012 to 2018 with Duke Engineering. Jesse became licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario in 2017, and formed Harwood Engineering in 2018.
Jesse also completed his training as a Certified Passivhaus Designer (CPHD) for the rigorous Passivhaus German building standard in 2015. His passion is in designing and aiding in the construction of homes that seek to reduce energy consumption both during and post-construction, and ultimately reduce their carbon footprints.
Outside of work, Jesse is a family-oriented man with a wife, daughter, dog, and a desire to build and certify his family home to the Passivhaus standard. He enjoys nature and all that the fine Muskoka outdoors has to offer.
